GPIO Device

To run the Hipi Control GUI

gksudo hipi-control-gui

It is possible to access the GPIO pins using a kernel device driver instead of accessing the pins directly through /dev/mem. This has the advantage that you can set up the device driver options so that pin access does not require root permissions.

This panel allows you to setup and manage the GPIO Device Driver settings and pins.

Access to the pins can be granted to members of the group gpio. The panel provides a simple interface that allows you to toggle this option on and off using the 'Allow Group Access' checkbox and also manage group membership

Changes to the 'Allow Group Access' setting will persist across system reboots.

Several of these options are not applicable when the system is running using the device tree and in that case the options will be disabled.
